Ladies’ Code’s EunB dies in car accident and RiSe is in a critical condition
The
21-year-old singer, whose real name is Koh Eun Bi, passed away after the van
she was in lost control and crashed into a protective wall around 1:30am (local
time) on a freeway near Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Fellow
group members RiSe and So Jung are in hospital, with RiSe in a critical
condition. Sojung was operated on for a bone fracture, while Ashley and Zuny
are being treated for shock.
The group’s
agency, Polaris Entertainment has offered an official statement with details of
the tragic accident:
“This is
Polaris Entertainment.
We are
letting you know the current situation concerning Ladies’ Code.
Last night,
after completing their schedule in Daegu, the vehicle carrying Ladies’ Code ran
into a problem of the rear wheel falling off while on the way back to Seoul, at
around 1:30 AM in Suwon. Due to the wheel coming off on the rainy road, the
vehicle spun several times before crashing into a guardrail. As a result,
member EunB grievously passed away.
Currently,
Rise is in critical condition and Sojung is receiving treatment for the
injuries she sustained. The other members who were also in the vehicle with the
manager and stylist have no serious injuries.
The members
will be transferred from Suwon to a hospital in Seoul today, but the location
of the wake has not yet been decided [for EunB].
Our company
employees are currently in an immense state of shock and are experiencing
unspeakable sadness at the moment.
We offer
our words of apology to the fans, as well as everyone who must have received a
great shock. We ask that a lot of people will pray with us for the members to
recover quickly.
We will
deliver further details as they are known. Thank you.”
Earlier
reports had stated that EunB, Sojung, and Rise were in the vehicle with the
manager and stylist. However, it is now being reported that the other two
members, Ashley and Zuny, were also aboard the same van, but have not sustained
major injuries.
While
Sojung appears to be in more stable condition now, it is being reported that
Rise is still undergoing surgery after receiving trauma to her head. She is
currently in the middle of a major procedure that has been ongoing for over
seven hours since around 2 AM (KST) on September 3. As the surgery is still
continuing, it is difficult to know the exact state of her condition at the
moment.
Update: RiSe is out of surgery but ‘under careful
observation’. She had emergency brain surgery following the crash.
Although
there are varying reports on the length of the surgery, from nine hours to 11,
local news sources are reporting that Rise is out of surgery and is under close
watch for any changes in her condition
at the intensive care unit (ICU).
Rise’s
family is currently on their way to Korea from Japan, according to a Polaris
Entertainment rep that spoke to Star Today.
Osen
reports that a rep from Polaris stated Rise’s surgery was suspended because her
blood pressure fell. She has been moved to the ICU and is under close watch.
The label
also confirmed details of EunB’s funeral, adding: ‘EunB’s remains are attended
to at Korea University Anam Hospital. Her funeral will be held on the 5th.’.
SCREW's Rui Leaves Music Industry
Rui decided
to depart after playing the bass for the band for about five years to pursue
his carrier as a fashion designer. This was announced recently and he will
leave after their live concert at AiiA Theater Tokyo on December 28th, 2014.
Rui stated
that he will end all his musical activities and that the decision was made
because he wanted to follow his old dreams, and not because of any kind
quarrels between the members. While the band will continue with 4 members, as
said by Kazuki, no one will be joining SCREW, Rui will be ending all of his
activities in music field. Instead he has decided to follow his dream of
becoming a fashion designer.
Rui himself
comments the matter in his blog as following:
"As
announced, I will be ending my band activities together with my graduation from
SCREW on 28th December. So, after this I will not be forming a new band or
performing as a bassist from now on. I'm not leaving because of quarrels or
anything, so I do feel lonely, however the people around us gave me a push, so
I decided from now on I will live trying out things I want to do.
I'm not
sure if I should say this now, but I would like to follow my old dream of
becoming a fashion designer. I could not be more grateful to members and
manager, company president and the whole staff of our artist office who
understood my feelings nd gave me the necessary push."

4MEN - You Whom I Love
Story behind
Doing all that he could do, 4men’s
Shin Yong Jae helped fulfill the dreams of one high school student who passed
away in the Sewol ferry tragedy by singing his song.
On May 30, Shin Yong Jae released
the song You Whom I Love (translated), which was written and composed by Lee Da
Woon, a high school student who was amongst the 288 people who died in the
tragic Sewol ferry accident on April 16,.
Knowing Lee Da Woon was a huge fan
of Shin Yong Jae, his family contacted 4men’s company, asking if the company
could produce the song that Lee Da Woon wrote before his death.
“I hope that I could be of help in
making his last dreams come true and a small comfort to his family,” said Shin
Yong Jae, who agreed right away to create the song. “As I was recording, I
could feel Da Woon’s sincerity in the song so my heart ached. I hope that this
song will be a comfort to his family and friends, and more than anything, I
hope Da Woon is happy in heaven listening to this song.”
You Whom I Love was created based on
a 2-minute video clip found on Lee Da Woon’s cellphone.
The lyrics have especially been
breaking hearts as it reads like a comfort to those in pain after the tragedy.
The lyrics read, “You whom I love,
you worked hard today as well / You, who are struggling, you, who are
struggling, I want to hug / By now, you’re probably dreaming a good dream /
Sleepless, I think about you / Listen to this song I wrote. You did well today
as well.”
All profits made from the song will
be used for the students still recovering at Danwon High School.
Meanwhile, 16 people still remain
missing from the ferry accident.

Japanese Rock Band Champagne Forced to Change their Name to Alexandros
Japanese
rock band Champagne has had their trials and tribulations in
the past year beginning with Aussie band Clubfeet, who accuses Champagne of
"Ripping them off" by copying their video
technology with an identical video of Clubfeet's "Everything You Wanted"
music video and then the cancellation of two festival
performances due
to a traffic accident have now landed themselves in hot water again this time
with Comité Interprofessionnel du Vin de
Champagne.
The
International news stations have been all a buzz the past few weeks that France
is stepping up their protection of their "Champagne" [name and
product] which only " Champagne" comes from the Champagne
region of France which is very true and they own the rights to the name,
grapes, region and products produced there. Furthermore there is a global
movement toward robust truth-in-labeling laws that protect consumers by
requiring that wine growing place names are reserved exclusively for the
regions where the wines come from such as Napa wines come from Napa Valley
California and so on.
Now, what
does this all have to do with a Japanese band? The band was using a licensed
trademarked and copyrighted name "Champagne". How did they
find them? Google search. So now as this band has gained popularity rapidly in
Japan, they have had to do a 180 degree turn and change everything just as they
are at a very important level in their career.With that
being said the new name and website has been revealed... It's
"Alexandros"!!
According
to the band's website they tried to negotiate and in conclusion as result of
extensive consultation with members , both staff , the decision was made to
rename the band and there was no legal process involved in the decision. The
band will continue on, just with a new name and thanks it's fans and their
support to please continue.
